EDGES
Edges are found everywhere. You find an edge at the end of something or the outside. Edges tell us when things stop and start. Photographs have edges. Mostly these are straight lines around the edge of a square or a rectangle. But sometimes photographers play with the edges of their pictures. Edges can be found inside a photograph. For example, objects in a still life or the edge of a face in a portrait. Like all photographs we need light to see edges.
Some of my examples:
I took these pictures of edges with the camera and then put them on my website.
Randy Grskovic
Randy Grskovic investigates and scrutinizes digital style using an analog process. Using the Internet, Grskovic procures copies of magazines that have been circulating since they were printed and originally distributed. The pieces reflect both the time-line in which they were produced and the distance the magazines traveled physically. Each singular image has been precisely cut, arranged, layered, and pasted without the aid of digital means. Grskovic’s interest in functionality, efficiency, and productivity are accentuated by multiplicity. Every image used only evades to the date of original creation, which compresses space, and forms an arranged synthesis.
